Tony Geara oversees ITS and CAV for the City of Detroit. After 15 years in consulting and academia, he made the move to public service to lead and grow the ITS & CAV group within the City. Tony is a PE and PTOE, and is a registered engineer in Kuwait, Australia, and Lebanon. He has championed a variety of mobility, ITS, CAV, and Traffic-related concepts, pilots, and projects, both locally and Internationally.
Tony currently manages the two largest federally funded smart city and mobility projects in the City: 1) ATCMTD and 2) ADS.
ATCMTD aims to deploy advanced technology systems on City infrastructure for mobility and safety improvements; while ADS involves developing and testing cutting edge automated driving system with a coalition of partners from industry and academia with the goals of developing and providing a shared mobility shuttle for an aging and para-mobility population.
